05 – Lift up Your Voice and With Us Sing: The Five Types of Songs Written by Men
Psalm Reading: Psalm 5
The kids ruined my 2019 playlist, but here it is anyway.
Our main topic is working through 5 (actually 6) categories of songs from the point of what is appropriate for church worship. Without further ado, here is the official list.
Type 0: The Psalms. Always appropriate for church use, no question.
Type 1: Songs meant for congregational worship
Type 2: Songs with explicitly Christian content
Type 3: Songs from inside the Christian worldview without explicitly Christian content
Type 4: Songs from outside the Christian worldview that still address issues like the fallen condition or desire for restoration
Type 5: Songs from outside the Christian worldview that ignore the fallen condition and might even celebrate sin
